Project “Eerste kans Nederlands”
Still in the same positive discrimination context, we finance Dutch courses for recently arrived students.
One of the features of “positive discrimination” schools is the arrival of young people of all ages, most often consequently to family gathering. In most cases, these recently arrived students significantly lack knowledge in French, which obliges schools to put in place adapted curricula in French. Adding to this lack of knowledge in French, these students also have to jump into Dutch courses, sometimes as late as the 4th or 5th year of secondary school, if not in the 6th. Most often, nothing is put in place to give these students the possibility to recuperate years of Dutch courses.
OME finances beginners’ courses that are given on Wednesdays afternoon. The aim is to bring these students forward to the level of their kins.
